Machine repair
Industrial machine repair in Switzerland
VLD Service GmbH repairs industrial machines and production plants in Switzerland. Our technicians handle fault finding and repair on mechanics, electrics, drives, sensors and PLC controls. For production breakdowns we run a 24/7 on-call service (Pikettdienst) from our operational base in Wangen bei Olten, canton of Solothurn.

Which industrial machines do we repair?
Machines and lines that run in production plants, with a focus on the food industry. The brand does not matter: we arrive with measuring instruments, a programming laptop and tools for mechanics, electrics and controls.
-
Conveyor systems
Belt conveyors, roller tracks, chain conveyors, screw conveyors: belt replacement, drives, bearings, sensors and PLC integration.
-
Production lines
Interlinked lines with several stations, where the fault sits in a handover, an interlock or a step sequence.
-
Washing and cleaning systems
From crate washers to tunnel washers: nozzles, pumps, heating, seals, valves and controls.
-
Packaging and sorting systems
Sorting systems, packaging lines, infeeds: mechanics, drives, safety circuits and PLC.
-
Filling and process plants
Filling, pasteurisation, CIP piping, tank storage: stainless steel piping, valves, pumps, sensors.
-
Drives and gear motors
Gear motors, frequency converters, soft starters: reading fault codes, checking parameters, measuring load, replacing the component.
-
Control cabinets
Contactors, circuit breakers, converters, safety relays and wiring to EN 60204-1, even without up-to-date schematics.
-
PLC-controlled machines
Siemens S7-300, S7-1200 and S7-1500 with TIA Portal, Beckhoff TwinCAT: reading the program, tracing interlocks, correcting parameters.
Which faults do we fix?
Assigning a fault to one trade is rarely clear-cut. A converter trips because the mechanics have become stiff; a sensor bounces because the terminal is damp after the wash cycle. That is why mechanics, electrics and controls come with the same team to the same machine.
Mechanical faults
Failed gear motors, torn conveyor belts, seized drives, worn bearings, broken shafts, leaking pipework, damaged stainless steel structures. Repaired on site, with TIG welding directly on the plant where needed.
Mechanics and assemblyElectrical faults
Short circuit, earth fault, cable break, failed safety circuit, a contactor or breaker that keeps tripping. Measured, isolated and fixed, including on older plants without current schematics.
Electrics and panel retrofitPLC and automation faults
Program crash, a step sequence that stalls, an interlock that will not release, bus errors on Profinet or Profibus, an HMI showing stale values. We go online on the controller instead of copying the error message.
Automation and PLCSensors and actuators
Proximity switches, light barriers, encoders, valve terminals, cylinders: signals measured at the device, not assumed. Loose contacts, damp terminals and cable breaks are found at the machine, not at a desk.
Fault finding at the machineDrives and frequency converters
Reading fault codes, comparing parameter sets, measuring load behaviour. Converters from ABB, Siemens, Danfoss and SEW, including the question of whether the drive itself is failing or only reporting what the mechanics cause.
Converters and drivesConveyor technology
Belt replacement and tracking, drive exchange, bearing checks, sensors and PLC integration on conveyor systems from any manufacturer, from Intralox and Habasit to custom builds.
Conveyor system repairFood industry machines
Plants that are washed down every day: moisture, detergents and temperature swings are a frequent cause of faults in this industry. We know these conditions from over 60 interventions since 2025.
For production companiesHow we proceed when a machine fails
From the call to the report in five steps. During an ongoing stoppage everything runs through the on-call number, around the clock.
-
Call and first assessment
Which plant, which message, what changed recently. This narrows the search to one area and decides which material comes along.
-
On site at the machine
Measuring instruments, programming laptop and tools for all three trades travel in the same vehicle. No second appointment because the electrician is missing.
-
Cause, not symptom
We keep searching until it is clear why the fault occurs. A replaced part without a found cause costs you the next stoppage.
-
Repair, in two stages if necessary
If the line is down, production comes first: a safe interim solution so you can run, then the permanent fix in a planned window.
-
Test and report
Trial run under production conditions, then a report with photos, measured values and replaced parts. Plus the measure that stops the fault from coming back.
Service area: Switzerland
The operational base is in Wangen bei Olten, on the Swiss Plateau between Bern, Basel and Zurich. In German-speaking Switzerland we are usually on site within 4 hours. Interventions in western Switzerland and Ticino on request; the team works in German, French and Italian.

Manufacturer-independent service
We repair machines of any brand, including older controllers the manufacturer no longer supports. No spare-parts contracts or service agreements with individual brands tie us. Systems we work with on site:
- Siemens S7-300, S7-1200, S7-1500, TIA Portal
- Beckhoff TwinCAT
- WinCC, Ignition (HMI/SCADA)
- ABB, Siemens, Danfoss, SEW (frequency converters)
- Intralox, Habasit, FlexLink, Interroll (conveyors)
- Profinet, Profibus, OPC UA
24/7 on-call service for production stoppages
The on-call number is staffed 365 days a year, around the clock. You speak directly to a technician, not a call centre. Billing by time and material: hours, parts and travel.
